BRIAN WEBER

Staff Sergeant U.S. Army
3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne)
Master’s Degree in Business from the University of Michigan

Brian attended Virginia Tech, receiving his bachelor’s degree in hospitality and tourism management before enlisting in the US Army. Brian graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course and deployed to Afghanistan. During this deployment, Brian was shot through the left shoulder. The bullet shattered his humeral head, displaced his rotator cuff muscles, and broke his scapula, resulting in severe bone, nerve, and muscle damage. After undergoing multiple surgeries and physical and occupational therapy, Brian returned to full active duty. Brian received a Bronze Star before medically retiring from the Army.

Brian decided to pursue a master’s degree in business from the University of Michigan. During the two-year program, Sentinels of Freedom (SOF) provided a housing subsidy to help offset the cost of living. This support enabled Brian to focus on his studies and complete his MBA (Master of Business Administration). Brian is currently working for Mars, Inc. He lives with his wife, Laura, in Chicago.
