NICK KOWALSKI
Navy Special Warfare Boat Operator, U.S. Navy
Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of San Diego
After witnessing the cloud of smoke coming from the Twin Towers outside the window of his math class as a sophomore in High School, Nick Kowalski developed a fervent desire to serve. This was a turning point in many lives, but he remembers thinking he wanted to make sure this never happens again. With goals of serving in the Special Operations Community, being the tip of the spear to prevent future attacks, Nick made it through the intense training and worked his way up the ranks to become an SO1 (Special Operator First Class Petty Officer) in the US Navy, Nick spent 7 years attached to special boat/SEAL teams. He completed multiple deployments resulting in long-lasting injuries that he learned to manage over time and not let them stop him from achieving his goals.
Nick’s drive and determination lead him to become a Sentinel in 2018 and received 1 year of financial support as well as a meaningful and beneficial mentoring relationship with a professional in the field he pursued, as he earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting with an emphasis in Corporate Taxation Auditing Decision Science and Strategic Management from the University of San Diego. Nick graduated in May 2019 and achieved his goal of gaining employment at Deloitte prior to graduation. Nick has been working and thriving as an Audit and Assurance Professional since and continues to be involved in his community coaching little league and as an avid photographer.
Sentinels of Freedom is proud to call Nick a graduated Sentinel and continue to watch him thrive in his career.
